Description from their site: "A downtown parade and masquerade ball are featured Feb. 5-6, 2005 as this colorful Sierra foothills town celebrates Mardi Gras in Nevada City.
Weekend activities open Saturday night with a Cajun Dinner and Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball in historic Miners Foundry at 325 Spring Street…The Mardi Gras Parade, with up to 49 entries, begins at 2 p.m. Sunday and moves down Broad Street through the center of town. It is a rain or shine event. Merry spectators of all ages line the parade route while gaily masked societies parade through the historic district handing out beads, toys, trinkets, bangles and more. Everyone is encouraged to attend in festive Mardi Gras attire. Notable parade entries expected at the 2005 event include the Ophir Prison Marching Band, Merry Widows Society, Red Hat Society, Grass Valley Temperance Union and General Doo-Dah & his Kazoo Band. Meanwhile, the Mardi Gras Street Faire features food, merchandise and face painting booths from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on North Pine Street.
To reduce downtown traffic, a free shuttle service carries visitors to the parade from parking lots at the Nevada County Government Center on Highway 49."

Description: Duck Days features the wetlands of the Pacific Flyway located near Davis. Description: Contra Costa Camp Fair is a new free expo coming to Lafayette on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free activities and approximately 75 exhibitors allowing attendees to view a smorgasbord of camps, enrichment programs, performing arts, preschools, sports and other summer programs available this year.
This free event is presented by Bay Area Festivals, Inc., which also produces Bay Area KidFest (24th annual edition May 25-27 in Concord), Walnut Creek FamilyFest and KNBR Big League Dreams Baseball Skills Clinics. Bay Area KidFest has been voted Best Community Event for three consecutive years by readers of Claycord.com with over 15,000 votes cast in the 2012 poll last month. Bay Area Festivals has donated nearly $60,000 to educational, health, sports and youth non-profits in the past three years.
Producer Jay Bedecarre says, "We hope to bring our creativity and expertise to Contra Costa Camp Fair, enabling families a one-stop shopping experience as they plan their summer activities." He adds that there will be a variety of camps for children, teens and families including day camps, overnight, performing arts, scouts and sports.
Contra Costa Camp Fair is being held in the large gymnasium at Acalanes High School, which is located just a half mile off Highway 24 at 1200 Pleasant Hill Rd. conveniently located for all of Contra Costa as well as East Bay residents coming through the Caldecott Tunnel.
The Camp Fair venue will feature non-stop free activities with Radio Disney, JoJo the Clown, face painting, putting green, basketball shooting contest and more.
